This composition sums up the desire of my heart by way of song; that is, to bring people of all nations and ages together. I am honored to feature certainly the most prominent percussionist in the world, Giovanni Hidalgo. He decorates this song with a conversational element which can not be replicated by any other. The genres, Funk and Jazz, are tightly fused by the bass and drums, where as Western Classical & Caribbean music (Plena, Salsa) are epitomized by piano and flute. The exotic sounds of the ethnic flutes from South America depict the beauty of the Amazon. The collisions of two parts of Africa (North and South) are spiritually united with the Bata drums and the Zulu chant (which translates “Hold on to Jesus”). When listening to this piece, let it be a constant reminder to all of us to be “Set Free” from bondages in our lives that keep us from achieving our purpose in life.
